Currently, I have a waitlist for testing with spots opening summer of 2024. My wonderful colleagues at my practice usually have more immediate availability for talk therapy/counseling! Thanks for stopping by to read my profile and for considering me for your treatment. I am very authentic and transparent about who I am in my work. Maybe you need an ADHD/autism/psychological testing evaluation. As a Psychologist, I provide comprehensive evals and focus on testing you holistically, not just for the diagnosis suspected- I want you to learn about yourself through the process. View 10 Photos I now primarily offer testing/evaluation specialty services including diagnosing ADHD, adult ASD, personality testing, as well as testing needed for certain employment, pre-surgical evaluations, and general diagnostic clarity and treatment recommendations for those already in therapy who may not be making progress. I know meeting with a Psychologist can be intimidating and often patients do not know what to expect, but I encourage patients to express those potential fears to make the experience better. Patients have described me as genuine and warm, but straightforward, with a great sense of humor. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community and offer true affirming care.

As a clinician I tend to focus on building a genuine, warm and positive relationship. I believe that every person has within themselves the power to heal. I see my job as providing my client with a safe and supportive place for them to discover their own strengths. I use stories and metaphors in therapy to help the client discover deeper truths. I also use techniques from a counseling theory called Internal Family Systems and have had much success with it. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addiction and especially trauma. View 4 Photos I worked in an agency setting for twelve years and gained experience with a multitude of different issues. However, the issue that I have focused mostly on is trauma. I have seen how childhood trauma continues to haunt adults both in my practice and through my own personal journey. Trauma can lead to depression, anxiety and a host of other "disorders". I learned theory and techniques in graduate school but through years of practice I have come to believe that theory and technique only go so far. I use my own life experiences, both successes and failures, to help clients in session. I know what it is like to be wounded by the past. I use those wounds to help others heal. Good can come from bad.

Are you looking for something different? Have you tried therapy before and in the moment you felt much better, but there was no lasting change? I am not an eclectic therapist that implements several theories in practice. I am a Certified Cognitive and Behavioral Therapist from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the gold standard of treatment in the world for things like anxiety and depression and I collaborate with you to find a tailored approach that will yield the best outcomes you are looking for. CBT has the capacity to change your life in ways that I want to be your reality. View 9 Photos The majority of my training in CBT has come from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia. This evidence based approach is key in treating areas like anxiety, depression, self esteem or relationship issues. CBT allows us to problem solve even when our thoughts and emotions are distressing. CBT is a pragmatic and logical approach to major issues we face in life. I desire for patients to learn and implement skills that would allow themselves to eventually act as their own therapist so that therapy is no longer needed once these skills are attained. Together, we can achieve this goal and the ones you have for yourself. It's normal to feel nervous. Try one session to see if it is right for you.

I specialize in three types of clients - couples hanging on by a thread, men who are less than thrilled at the idea of attending therapy, and individuals that live under a constant state of performance pressure. As someone who has lived and survived all three of these scenarios personally, I've got a ton of empathy and a box of tools ready for people motivated to achieve change. Whether you're picking up the pieces from infidelity, exhausted from fighting about the same tired topics, or struggling to escape the voices in your head that beat you down, I'm honored to pull up a chair next you and begin sorting through the mess. Prior to being marriage therapist, I spent time working as a financial planner and a Young Life area director. My journey through these non-clinical careers gives me a unique ability to identify and care for entrepreneurs, professionals and people of faith who need direction applicable to their complex journeys. As part of Chenal Family Therapy, I'm available to provide quick access to other specialists on our team as your situation dictates including trauma therapists, experts in helping children with behavioral issues, and access to like-minded psychiatrists who can assist with medication management.

With over a decade experience in a variety of settings, my passion lies in working a hybrid of school based and outpatient - working with teens, adults, and the LGBTQIA+ population. I enjoy helping families find common ground and mutual respect even around difficult subjects. My aim is to tailor treatment to each and every client's needs and goals. I utilize person centered, CBT, solution focused & reality therapies to help clients make progress and become the best, most authentic version of themselves. I have a laid back approach to therapy & enjoy meeting clients where they are. I'm also a board approved counseling supervisor. I currently have a waitlist for new patients. I am pleased to be part of a practice that specializes in neurodivergence, something near and dear to my heart and own lived experience. I am passionate about seeing clients grow through working through and understanding their story and how it has affected them in order to experience personal growth, better self awareness and self compassion, and ability to live more fully in the present. I work with clients on anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and other stressors. Often these issues in the present are tied to wounds in the past that can cause us to get stuck in unhelpful ways about thinking about ourselves. I believe that working on these issues from a trauma-focused lens can lead to a deeper and more lasting result than focusing on symptoms alone. View 3 Photos I am trained in a variety of trauma focused therapies including EMDR, a type of therapy designed to lessen distress related to traumatic events. I also use Emotion Focused therapy to use emotions to move us into better relationship with self and others. When faith is important to my clients, I love to use this as a resource for our work together. My goals is to make my office a safe space to find rest and healing through a laid back approach, and I'm honored that my clients allow me to walk through their difficult stories with them knowing that we can get to a place of hope on the other side.

I have been told that I am a good listener. This is an essential quality in a good therapist but it is by no means sufficient. Throughout my training, I have collected what I believe to be the most effective strategies and perspectives for bringing about change in a person's behaviors and beliefs that is consistent with who the individual wishes to be. I am particularly proud that I have been able to work effectively with people of broadly varying belief systems in ways that enable them to call on already existing internal resources to improve their lives within their own personal environment. I most often utilize an ego-state perspective to access and restructure internal resources. I prefer this approach because it effectively brings about change in both thought and feeling and results in durable change that will hold up well over time and situations, rather than sliding back into past unproductive habits and processes. I have extensive training and experience with clinical hypnosis in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, addictions and somatic complaints such as chronic pain or irritable bowel syndrome. I have served as an Approved Consultant through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and I am a Past President of the Arkansas Psychological Association

My life feels like chaos! How can I get past my past? How can I save my marriage? How can I achieve my goals in life? These are common issues that bring people into counseling. To borrow a quote from coach Wooden "although there is no progress without change, not all change is progress." Getting started can feel uncomfortable at first but usually as you proceed most people are engaged, energized, and feeling the benefits. My style is such that it does not feel like therapy--rather someone you know who has been down this road as well. My practice is focused on individuals, children, adolescents and their families utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. I have over 5,000 hours as an LPC and have participated in Christian Ministry for 25 years. I work with those dealing with Trauma, Stress, Grief, Depression, Anxiety, and Relational difficulties. I also treat Post-traumatic stress disorder. Treatment can help you regain a sense of control over your life. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) combines exposure therapy with a series of guided eye movements that help you reprocess traumatic memories and change how you react to past trauma.
